Being an Essential Worker AND a Compromised Immune System

By current definition, I am an essential worker; I work home hospice. I am grateful I have a job when so many around me suddenly do not. However, I am also in the high risk category for a bad trip through this disease if I should catch it.

I have to work. To go outside the house leaves me at increased risk; but I have to work! I am the only one in my family group that still has a job, someone has to make things work — and it looks like it’s going to be me. I try to be careful about surfaces and contact procedures. I am on vitamins that are supposed to boost the immune system. I am trying to make certain that I eat and sleep. I can only do my best; and not one little bit more.

I hope I don’t get sick.

That’s all any of us can hope for – and for it all to stop soon.
